First of all I don’t really know why people are obsessed with the wedding; but I believe that the reason why many people are obsessed with the royal wedding is because at some point in the future this wedding might be history.
I think that so many people are obsessed with the british activities because it can either be something to bet on to possibly make a lot of money. to the British this can be a way of entertainment. In the U.S. we can relate superbowl sunday to the Queens first born. Bets constantly placed and everyone counts down the day.
Many people are so obsessed with the activities of the British Royal Family because they wanted to see what they think of the wedding Royal Family. It's easy to follow them when they are in the carriage when they are being posted by the media. They do these bets is because they want to see the Royal Family is going to wear in the wedding and what child are the bride and groom they going to get in the later years. Overall, the people of England are just making history and just guessing on the activities on what the Royal Family are doing.
i think the fact that Kate had no royal a ties and Prince William still chose her to marry. It was sort of like any one could have had a chance with him. Also the fact that William is a Prince makes his life be more in the spotlight. If it were some one regular getting married there wouldn't have been so much ruckus.i think a lot of people were waiting for Prince William to marry.
People in America are so obsessed with it because we dont have a king or queen. Americans hardly get to see a big ceremony like that big. Everyone else is obsessed with it because its something that has happens once in a great while and it is very expensive.
many people may be so obsessed with the British Royal family mainly because they are royalty and are every well known. Its like then everyone knows a lot about singer, actors, etc.... but with the royalty well they are ROYALTY. that what I feel many people are so interested in knowing everything about them.
I think it is because of the fact that Kate(the bride)was a commoner meaning she was not royal, she was a middle class girl. also it is becoming more of a fashion show instead of a wedding. for example, whats the bride is going to wear? what designer is she going to wear for?, in fact,the interest is just exclusive to the bride, it also, includes the groom.
I think there are many different reasons. A Huge celebrity culture exists in the U.S., so people here may be simply in awe of another group of people who are famous for being famous. British citizens however may have reasons that come from an appreciation of tradition and national pride. The idea of royalty can be an example of the best aspects of a society and culture.
I believe so many people are interested in irrelevant issues around the world, such as the wedding of Prince William and Kate, and Obama’s birth certificate, because our government has yet to stir up anything in the people. We need real issues to be addressed, but we fail to do so. We are in need of something to be passionate about, something that is happening now. This is what the press decides to give us. -tanya

I'm not so sure if a lot of Americans are obsessed with the activities of the Royal Wedding. Most people I have talked to say they don't care or not highly fascinated by it. As for fellow Britains, many are fascinated and overly obsessed. Some are merely interested in the pageantry of things and some are interested in the aspect of monarchry. I am particulary fascinated about the history of everything.

more than being obsessed with the royal family they only want to make money out of every single detail that has to do with the royal family and the royal wedding. everyone is just acting like they are interested and obsessed to get profits. for example, they made shirts, dolls, china sets, and even condoms with the royal newly weds to make some kind of profit.
I think that the people didn't have anything else to do. All the people were just getting excited for what doesnt concern them. But, I would have betted on the wedding as well if i were more interested, maybe its the gambling in me.
THIS IS FROM RACHEL... I think that people tend to be obsessed with what the British royal family does, because their lives are so easy to follow due to the media. It's interesting to watch the different generations of the royal family as they wed and have babies. Also, the fact that there aren't too many people considered "royal" now and days, makes it more extraordinary. I think it's pretty odd though that people bet on things like what color hat the Queen's going to wear and what year William and Catherine are going to have their first child and what gender that child will be. I would definitely say though that the primary reason people are obessed is because it's history in the making.
